China has implemented a new ecological code following its "two sessions" meeting, which experts say could significantly reduce global CO2 emissions and offset insufficient ambition elsewhere. The code aims to implement net-zero climate policies by 2050, potentially reducing global CO2 emissions from 23Gt to 13Gt. Additionally, the country has more than 3,000 petrochemical plants producing 0.8Gt of CO2 annually in 2021.
