Proofpoint researchers have identified at least four state-aligned Chinese threat groups exploiting a trio of unpatched vulnerabilities, known as BlueMoon, to conduct espionage since late August. This exploit chain targets Chrome, Chromium-based browsers, and Microsoft Windows, allowing attackers to gain system privileges on targeted machines. Developers and tech professionals must stay vigilant for similar attacks as the exploit kit could be adopted by other threat actors once patched versions are rolled out.
